1990 EA82 Hatch

This conversion has been posted on the USMB forum. Check out the post here!

As pre USMB members request I have finally finished my EA82 hatchback. Seems this car never got on the market (was never designed) I thought I may as well see what it would of looked like. All the other concepts I have done are of new Subaru's and could well be made. But since this is a old model car the only way it would be for real is if someone cut up a wagon and made it into a hatch just like I have here, only for real. I hope you enjoy it, and I also hope you don't get too confused after seeing it and go looking for one.

This looked like a good challenge. To turn a photo of this Subaru EA82 Wagon in to a EA82 Hatchback. I decided on this picture as it didn't look easy to modify (I wanted a challenge.) But as it turned out it only took me 2 and a half hours to convert and lift this 4WD machine.

Slice and Dicing again. I moved the rear of front door seal backward to emulate the EA81 hatch's doors (being bigger, same as the Brat and in fact most other 2 door models of 4 door cars.) I put a lean on the seal to make it more like the EA81 hatch as well. I also grabbed the rear of the car and shortened it, put a slope on the hatch door and filled in the background to make it look real. I had to do a fair bit of touch up inside. both the rear left and left B pillar needed reshaping and moving. I redesigned the seats to look a little better. Also removed the roof racks and reshaped the roof.

What I used and how I used it. For the EA82 Hatchback I used a free program that came with my scanner. Its called iPhoto Express, its a cut down version of iPhoto 4. I used the "Clone" tool. The "Clone" tool is great, just select a part of the picture and then past that part all over the place. Its very good for creating new bushes, plants, and background. But its also very useful with reshaping the car, as it can keep the shading right. I also used the "Smudge" tool a lot. It is good for softening up the look of the "Cloned" area, also its good for dragging extensions of the car in a certain way.

And seems I already know you will ask for one, I give you the 3" lifted EA82 Hatch. I know, I know, I didn't change the wheels or tyres. But, you can imagine that for your self. I think it looks neat the way it is there though. Basically I just had to select the whole car with the lasso tool and move it upwards. Then fill in the underneath so it looks right. I didn't think this car was going to turn out very good. But now I have done it and am looking at it right now, it sort of grows on me. I like it more every time I look. If you want you can send me an email or a PM in USMB about this "conversion".
